John Leary

John Leary plays an eclectic mix of acoustic Americana, folk, bluegrass, country, and rock. A sixth-generation Alexandrian, he sings and plays guitar in Jones Point and performs solo acoustic sets at clubs, breweries, and private events around the DC area.

Music has been a constant his whole life — from his first guitar lesson in fifth grade and a talent-show performance of “Yesterday” in front of his entire K–8 school, through bands spanning Go-Go and rock at TC Williams, jam-band sets at the University of South Carolina, and years around DC with groups like The Road.
